Trader Information

The Royal Greenwich "What Trader" scheme has been set up to help consumers locate home improvement traders who carry out work in the Borough.
Where consumers in the Borough have suffered at the hands of less reputable traders, the consumers have been visited by Royal Greenwich Trading Standards and pointed towards the "What Trader" scheme.  The scheme is not an approval scheme but aims to reassure consumers and help them to find a reliable trader.
Why should I join the scheme?
The scheme, managed in conjunction with Siteon Limited, supports Greenwich traders and allows local businesses, large or small, the opportunity to set themselves apart from so-called 'cowboy builders'.  To support traders to deliver high quality work to consumers, Trading Standards offer free business advice to all local businesses.
The scheme is looking to recruit traders and is actively promoted in the Borough.  For example we advertise the scheme to consumers, as well as at the Police Safer Neighbourhood Team Ward Panels.
Whilst we cannot recommend your business, consumers are advised to use traders listed in our scheme when looking for a home improvement trader to carry out repairs or building work on their home.
New traders who are interested in joining the scheme will be charged a non-refundable application fee of £75 + VAT which will include the first year's membership for those who are accepted into the scheme following successful completion of background checks by Royal Greenwich Trading Standards.
Existing traders on the scheme will be charged an annual fee of £75 + VAT payable from 1st September.
Your business will then be contacted by Siteon Limited who manage the scheme on Royal Greenwich's Trading Standards behalf in connection with matters such as invoice payment and processing your application.
