At Walsall Trading Standards we are all too well aware of the problems caused by rogue traders, especially in the building and home improvement sectors. In addition to the financial loss and distress caused to consumers, rogue traders also have a negative impact on the business of reputable traders.  We have developed the Walsall TraderRegister in response to these concerns.

Walsall TraderRegister is not an approval scheme but is a register of businesses in the Walsall area.  It is promoted by Trading Standards and its partner agencies to consumers in the borough as a means of finding a reputable trader and avoiding falling victim to rogue traders.

In order to be registered with the scheme you will have to demonstrate a commitment to fair and honest trading practices and delivering good customer service. In exchange for this commitment, you will benefit directly from referrals as well as from the fairer trading environment created by the scheme. For consumers, it provides advice and information on employing a trader.

There is a small charge for membership and applying is simple.  New members pay £80 plus VAT when they are accepted onto the scheme.  This is very competitive when compared with other similar schemes.

 You can either apply online by going to the New Trader Registrations page above or download an application form.  You can also download a guide on the application process.  In order to join the scheme businesses must agree to abide by our code of practice.  If you do join the Walsall TraderRegister you will be able to use the logo in your advertising.
